There were times when it felt like my start date was forever away and I’d never get there. I have certain personal reasons for waiting until March 2, 2013 to take off, but there were so many days where I just couldn’t wait to be gone.
Now with only 30 days left and every weekend until then booked with ‘something’, it seems like time is really flying now. A lot of thoughts and memories come flooding back rather often. I hear the plans my riding group is making for this season and know what good times I’ll miss. A wedding from my group that I’m not sure I can make it back for…
And I look back on the years that have brought me to this place…
Growing up military; giving me that certain bond for so many of the veterans’ programs for which we ride.
Being Independent at an early age; giving me the strength and knowledge I need to survive on my own.
Raising a wonderful son; giving me the pride to know that if I can do that, I can do anything.
And of course…
Ability to draw people together; giving me the pride to know that no matter where I go in this world and no matter what befalls me, I have more friends than is humanly fair.
Love of a grand child; giving me the humility to know my limits and know that I have a lot to come home to.
Spirit of a spider; giving me the appreciation to work hard to build something, enjoy every tasty morsel life throws in your web, and live your short, short life to the fullest. (For those that truly know me, they will get a kick out of that analogy.)
I am really hoping that The Write Hand continues to grow and that I do well enough at my business and with my sponsors to keep on rollin’. I’ll be attending the IMS Show in Rosemont, IL, then get to enjoy one more PMS Relief (game night) with my ULRB group members, followed by The BROAD BAILS Party at Joe’s Bar in Joliet, IL on 2.23.13 at 6pm. We’ll get to present our small contribution raised from the PMS Relief nights to IL Veterans Foundation. Then the next weekend I’m gone.
Last night I actually started looking at a map and evaluating my schedule to get to Daytona Bike Week and where I think I want to stop (more or less) for the evenings. I also have to find accommodations in Daytona as my original plan may not be working out. So the real actual planning, as is necessary, has just begun.
