After speaking with Bean’re on the Rescue Rider TV show, I definitely had questions for him. So many he’ll probably kick me out after an hour or two. We’ve been communicating and Saturday, I left to head to Louisville to visit him.
First stop however, Ft. Wayne, Indiana to see my friend Anne that just moved there. Our buddy Ed come to Ft. Wayne as well.
We enjoyed a fun night yesterday at Checkerz (biker bar) in Ft. Wayne off of Lima Rd. The band rocked and I swear the clientele probably had $100,000 worth of Harley t-shirts in that place. I’d venture to say over 50% of the people in there had something on that was Harley branded. And many others were obviously bikers given the shirts and other tell-tell signs.
This afternoon Ed, Anne, BB, and myself took off southbound. Ed and Anne rode with me for about an hour before turning back. Route 3 south is a great road, mostly boring, but a great road with some little towns to eat or gas-up.
BB and I ran across a lovely covered bridge at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery off Rt 3 in Muncie, IN. It’s not a very old bridge, 1988, the year I graduated high school… but it is set between a funeral home and cemetery and the grounds are amazingly beautiful. A few pictures, a drink of water, a doggie potty break and we were off again.
Now sitting at Jim Dandy in Greenfield, IN eating a BLT, soup, and HEY – – – updating y’all.
Tomorrow morning BB and I will continue our trip to Louisville. I’m really hoping to run across some sites perhaps.
